PAWANYA — FOUNDER & DESIGNER

My name is Pawanya, though many people know me as May, and I founded GemsExcellence to bring exceptional colored gemstones into jewelry that feels elegant, personal, and truly worth owning.

Gemstones have been part of my life from an early age. In 1991, my parents founded a gemstone business in Bangkok focused on precision-cut rubies and sapphires. Watching rough stones transform through patience, skill, and pride shaped the way I understand beauty — not as something flashy, but as something earned through expertise and care.

After studying in the UK and Switzerland, I pursued my dream of designing fine jewelry. I wanted to create pieces with more than style alone — pieces grounded in real gemstone knowledge, thoughtful design, and lasting value. I spent years in our family business sorting and grading gemstones by color, clarity, and size, and later strengthened my professional foundations through the Gübelin Academy.

In 2014, I established Gems Excellence in Bangkok. In 2016, I moved to Hong Kong, bringing the brand with me and continuing the same commitment to gemstone mastery, refined design, and uncompromising standards. Today, Gems Excellence reflects everything that has shaped my journey: a lifelong connection to colored gemstones, a belief in honest guidance, and a desire to create jewelry that feels timeless, authentic, and deeply personal.

Gems Excellence operates two in-house cutting factories, where our teams have refined complex cuts over many years. This includes signature styles such as the Excellent Cut (known for its heart-and-arrow style reflection) and the Radiant Cut, both central to our identity. These stones are then paired with high-quality diamonds and crafted gold settings to create jewelry that feels luminous, balanced, and enduring.

DESIGNED IN HONG KONG. CRAFTED WITH GLOBAL EXCELLENCE

As a Hong Kong fine jewelry house, we design and conceptualize each piece in our Hong Kong studio and craft our jewelry with trusted facilities and partners around the world.
